Better with each listen
Rating: 5/5
I must say that this album is mind blowing, and it only gets better with time. Every single song is part of the masterpiece- there are no fillers. No album has received more play time in my CD player than this. Muse is a master at making songs that grow better with time- no other band does this to me. When I first listened it it, I liked it, but didn't think it was quite as good as Absolution. After listening to it for almost two years now, it has greatly surpassed Absolution. Their genius and mastery of their style has become apparent. If at first you don't love it, keep listening- it gets better with every listen. The first four songs (Take a Bow, Starlight, Black Holes and Revelations, and Map of the Problematic) are without flaw.
Pretty darn good!
Rating: 4/5
Sometimes leans a little too much toward the "dancy" (synth-rock) stuff, but overall a solid effort. The rock songs really do ROCK, and it's a fairly good listen all the way through.
Muse - A Revalation
Rating: 5/5
Muse is a band that I find difficult to categorize. They take elements of classic progressive rock and fuse it with modern electronica and alternative rock not unlike their peers Radiohead or more adventurous material from Coldplay. At the same time the band hearken back to older influences, an obvious one being Queen and some of this stuff even reminds me of bands like Rush, Depeche Mode or Prince. Yes the material is that diverse. So what does all this mean? It means Muse is a great band who are creating some of the freshest and adventurous rock music out there today. Having not been exposed to their earlier stuff (aside from the occasional single on the radio), I can't compare this album to prior ones, but "Holes" has certainly made me want to explore the rest of the band's catalogue.
Thank you Stephenie Meyer
Rating: 5/5
Thank you Stephenie Meyer for turning me on to Muse. Same as with her books, I am now obsessed with their music. Even as I type this they are playing on my computer. I listen to their CD's constantly in the car, at work, at home, at the gym. Being a `thirty something' I feel a little silly with how obsessed I am with them but so it is and shall be.
Terrific CD...
Rating: 5/5
it was a video for Doctor Who that put me in touch with Muse. I fell in love with Map Of The Problematic and immediately bought the CD. The CD knocked my socks off and I became an instant fan. It is easy to hear why this band has so influenced Stephenie Meyer's Twilight book series. Thanks to my love of all things Doctor Who (and David Tennant) for exposing me to this great Brit band. Check it out!
